Your investment options

In the PSSap, you can mix and match your options in a number of different ways.

You can invest in one or more of our four ‘pre-mixed' investment options:

  1. Conservative
  2. Balanced (50/50)
  3. Trustee Choice (the default option)
  4. Aggressive

You can create your own portfolio from seven individual asset class options:

  1. Cash
  2. Bonds/Fixed interest
  3. International shares (unhedged)
  4. International shares
  5. Australian shares
  6. Property
  7. Sustainable

Or you can combine the two categories any way you want.

You can also invest the contributions already made to your PSSap account in one or more options, and then invest future contributions in a different group of options. The choice is yours.

Investment performance

Your choice your responsibility

The opportunity to choose how your super is invested carries with it a responsibility to make well-informed decisions appropriate to your personal objectives, financial situation and needs.
For example, you should consider:

Once you have made your choice, you also need to keep an eye on it, particularly if you have created your own portfolio using individual asset class options. Market movements WILL take your individual asset class proportions away from the point at which you started. If this happens, your fees and risk level may change and you will need to decide if you want to ‘rebalance' them. We rebalance the individual asset class allocations in the pre-mixed options.

Choose your investment strategy

Risk and return

All investments involve risk. You may lose money no matter which investment you choose. Generally speaking, investments that offer a higher level of return will have higher ups and downs in the short term.

Risk can be managed and even minimised, but cannot be eliminated. No matter how skilled the investment manager, or how strong performance has been in the past, there is always a chance you could receive back less than you invested.

Ways risk can be managed include diversifying across different asset classes and understanding the risks of investment.

Find out more about significant risks and how risk levels vary for each investment option in our Product Disclosure Statement.

Choose your investment strategy

You can choose your investment strategy, or change it, any time.

It doesn't cost you anything to make your first investment choice, if you do so within 30 days of joining the PSSap.

You also have two free switches each financial year. Subsequent switches cost $20 each.
Until you tell us what you want to do, your super will be invested in the default option called Trustee Choice.
If you decide to change your investment strategy for future contributions and you do not switch the investment strategy for your existing account then this is counted as a ‘first choice' and switch fees do not apply.

Before making any decisions, please read about investments and your options in our Product Disclosure Statement.

If you want to choose how your super is invested just use your access number to make your choice online or send us a completed Investment Choice form.

You will receive written confirmation when your investment switch has been processed.
