To help you stay in touch with your super, an email will be sent to you every time I post a new edition of CEO Online. I welcome your feedback on the services we provide and issues which you think we should consider, so please feel free to use our online feedback service whenever you want. This edition I would like to talk about:
Getting started with the PSSapWe have worked closely with your employers to make joining the PSSap easy, with minimal paperwork and maximum personalised support to get you off to a good start. STEP 1: Your employer will provide you with our product disclosure statement which outlines the features, benefits, risks and cost of investing your super with the PSSap. It's also a useful guide to your options, and you should read it before making any decisions. STEP 2: Your employer will register you electronically, by providing us with your contact details, your Tax File Number if you choose to provide it, and details we need to provide you with insurance. They will also advise us if you have chosen to make personal contributions. STEP 3: We will send you your membership card and, under separate cover for security reasons, your online access number which allows you to manage your super online (see below for further details). STEP 4: We will then call you to check you have everything you need, answer any questions you may have and show you where you can find information online when you need it. Of course, do not hesitate to jump online anytime if you need information; you can also email us or call us on 1300 725 171 during business hours. It's your super, so don't hold back, put us to work for youSuper doesn't have to be complicated. It's all about understanding your options and which ones will be of benefit to you. Below, I've put together quick summaries of some of the options you should consider: Do you want to make personal contributions to your super? Do you want to transfer money from other funds to consolidate your super? Do you want to change your level of Death and Total & Permanent Disability insurance? Do you want to change your level of income protection, or opt out altogether? Who do you want to nominate as your beneficiary? How do you want your money invested? Getting advice that's right for youWe are licensed to provide general advice about the PSSap and superannuation through our authorised representatives. We cannot provide you with advice based on your individual objectives, financial situation and needs. Before making any decisions about your super, we recommend you seek advice from a licensed professional such as financial adviser. Choosing an adviser is an important decision and you should make your selection carefully. Take a look at your lifestage decisions, where you'll find useful guides such as DON'T KISS YOUR MONEY GOODBYE - a step-by-step guide to choosing the right financial adviser, published by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission in association with the Financial Planning Association of Australia. Also make sure that your adviser is familiar with the features of the PSSap. Please remember that your employer is not licensed and cannot give you advice or make any recommendations regarding your super. Managing your super online is easyYou will receive your secure online access number in the post. This allows you to gain quick access to your super whenever you need to:
This service is new, and there are many additional functions we will be adding on in the future. If you have any questions about your super, try our Fact Sheets. If you have any questions about using Member Services Online, please feel free to contact us on 1300 725 171.
