Cooper review into super

In May 2009, the government announced the Super System Review, chaired by Jeremy Cooper, to review the governance, efficiency, structure and operation of Australia’s super system.

The Cooper review has recommended two key reforms, which aim to lower super fees and increase Australians retirement savings. These are:

  • › establishing a default fund known as MySuper, available to all employees
  • › creating SuperStream, to improve super fund office procedures by creating new data-quality standards, using members’ tax file numbers and improving technology for better efficiency.

The government is now considering these recommendations, and we’ll keep you updated in future editions of Aspire.

For more info, see the media release from the previous Minister for Financial Services, Superannuation & Corporate Law and Minister for Human Services, Chris Bowen.

Keep track of your super

We recently sent out your Annual Member Statement Pack – now you can keep track of your super by checking out your Annual Member Statement online. While you’re there, you may even like to top up your balance by making an after-tax contribution to your super using BPAY.

To see your statement online and to make an after-tax contribution, log in to Your account – you’ll need an access number to use this service. If you don’t have one or you’ve misplaced it, call us on 1300 725 171 and we’ll give you one over the phone.

Less hassle, more convenient – get your statement online
Did you get your Annual Member Statement Pack in the mail this year? You can opt in to get your full Annual Member Statement Pack online next year – it’s more convenient and means you get less paperwork in the mail.

It’s as easy as logging in to Your account and updating your communication preferences in the My details section.
